          Jepang adalah Negara yang terbentang membentuk busur pada arah Barat Laut Samudra Pasifik di tepi Timur Benua Eurasia. Terdiri dari pulau – pulau besar dan kecil dengan luas sekitar 378.000 km2 membentang dari Selatan ke Utara sepanjang 2.500 km dan terletak pada sekitar 20° - 46° LU. Pulau – pulau utamanya adalah Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, dan Okinawa.Honshu terbagi dalam 5 daerah, yaitu Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kinki dan Chugoku. Sekitar tiga perempat dari daratan Japang terdiri dari daerah pegunungan dan perbukitan, sedangkan tanah datar yang tersedia untuk lahan dan pengembangan kota sangat terbatas. Di daerah yang terbatas inilah tinggal lebih kurang 130 juta penduduk.

          Iklim umumnya lembut dengan perubahan 4 musim yang jelas karena Jepang terletak hampir di pusat daerah beriklim sedang. Musim semi dan musim gugur sangat nyaman namun pada musim panas ( Juli – Agustus) angina bertiup dari Samudera Pasifik sehingga menjadikan Jepang panas, sebaliknya pada musim dingin (Desember – Februari) angin bertiup dari daratan menjadikan Jepang sangat dingin. Kecuali kepulauan Hokkaido, pada bulan Juni berlangsung Tsuyu ( musim hujan) dan hampir setiap hari turun hujan. Disamping itu, karena kepulauan Jepang memiliki struktur daratan yang rumit dan memanjang dari Selatan ke Utara, adanya perbedaan iklim yang mencolok antar daerah merupakan kekhasan tersendiri. Di Hokkaido dan Honshu sekitar Laut Jepang, pada musim dingin curah saljunya tinggi. Dengan memanfaatkan perubahan musim seperti ini berbagai macam olah raga pantai dan olah raga musim dingin bisa dinikmati dengan menyenangkan.

         Tidak hanya masakan Jepang yang terdiri dari nasi, sebagai makanan pokok, serta sayuran, ikan, dan daging saja sebagai lauk pauknya, masakan Cina dan Eropa pun cukup popular. Dewasa ini bermacam – macam jenis masakan dari berbagai penjuru dunia bisa dinikmati. Jepang jug dikarunia air yang bermutu dan fasilitas higiennya sangat baik sehingga air keran di semua daerah aman di konsumsi.

         Kebudayaan Jepang sangat beragam. Para remaja putri yang mempelajari kebudayaan tradisional Jepang seperti upacara minum teh (chadou) dan merangkai bunga (kadou) sekalipun senang pergi menonton pertandingan olah raga. Begitu pula di kota – kota, bukanlah pemandangan yang mengherankan manakala terlihat kuil – kuil kuno tegak berdampingan dengan gedung – gedung pencakar langit. Inilah kebudayaan Jepang dewasa ini sebagai gabungan yang mengagumkan antara Kebudayaan lama dan kuno, antara Timur dan Barat.

          Seiring dengan kemajuan media informasi, informasi dengan mudah mengalir masuk dan hal – hal baru pun dengan cepat tersebar luas di Jepang. Namun kebudayaan tradisional seperti festival tradisional dan gaya hidup yang sudah berurat berakar di setiap daerah masih tetap melekat sebagai ciri khas daerah ybs, sepeti halnya dialek daerah. Demikian pula dengan industrinya. Jepang yang dulu dikenal sebagai Negara agraris, hanya dengan melalui proses industrialisasi cepat selama 1 abad, kini telah menjelma sebagai salah satu Negara industri maju di dunia. Berbagai penelitian dalam berbagai bidang, mulai dari rekayasaa elektronik sampai manajemen internasional dsb, bisa dilakukan di berbagai Universitas.

"Call Me Maybe" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen. It was released on September 20, 2011 as the lead single from her first extended play, Curiosity.

         Carly Rae Jepsen is getting ready to make a name for herself. After placing third on 'Canadian Idol' in 2007, the British Columbia-born singer has become a rising star in Canada and it was announced this year that she has been signed to Justin Bieber's label. 'Call Me Maybe' is the first single off her second studio album titled 'Curiosity' and is the first song by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the digital charts since Bieber's hit 'Baby.'

The song's lyrics play as a flirty love note to a secret crush. Jepsen starts out by proclaiming, "I trade my soul for a wish / Pennies and dimes for a kiss / I wasn't looking for this." She makes it clear that the boy she's targeting is the object of her affections as, "And all the other boys, try to chase me / But here's my number, so call me, maybe?" Jepsen appears in the music video of the song by trying to win the attention of her neighbor but fails in doing so. A video spoof was posted on Twitter by Big Time Rush member Carlos Pena Jr. which included appearances by Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Big Time Rush. The spoof video has received over 18 million views, more than the actual music video.

         It's been some time since we were bombarded by a perfect pop song, and even longer since we've been bombarded by a perfect pop song from a young Canadian pop idol, but 26-year-old Carly Rae Jepsen has fulfilled both world shortages with a single, maddeningly addicting song: "Call Me Maybe."

If you're under the age of, say, 17—or otherwise tuned into the world of burgeoning pop stars—you've probably had this on repeat since mid-February, when tween royalty Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez and their friends put on fake mustaches and danced around someone's McMansion. They made a video that now has 20 million views on YouTube.

But for the rest of us (especially outside of Canada, where it's already been certified platinum), Jepsen Mania has only just begun. And the girl deserves it: She's recorded a flawless pop song. It's been out since September, but we're fast approaching the phase in which we will be virtually incapable of escaping the song and its strident disco strings and that horribly catchy hook. Resistance is futile, people: As much as I want to hate this song, I have listened to it seven times today (maybe more like 10 times) and I am not yet sick of it.

Jepsen signed with Bieber-maker Scooter Braun's label Schoolboy Records last month, after Justin heard the song on the radio and told Braun it was "the best pop song out there." That's like Michael Jordan ceding his title to Kobe
